Shera

The Princess Of Power

Shera first came to me and my family while we were fostering dogs during my early teens. She was brought to us while I was at school, she was wearing a mussel and we were told that she was a vicious dog who would've otherwise been put down. So when she walked into our house as an experiment, my dad, who was there to receive Shera, took off her muzzle to see what would happen. Shera immediately started licking my dad jumped up on him and couldn’t stop wagging her tail. When I got home from school that day I was then greeted with that same joy and asked my dad what her story was.

My dad began to tell me that she was abandoned at a vet and seemed to be scared of new people and other dogs. Shera would growl at anyone she didn’t know and all of our other dogs but she was otherwise very well behaved. We tried to adopt her out to a few homes but due to her seemingly unpredictable behaviour people were reluctant and we were therefore unsuccessful.

One day we had a few guests over and I was told to bring Shera with me in my room. Shera and I spent a good few hours together and that quickly turned into spending more and more time together. Eventually, Shera and I started to spend every single day together, going on walks, playing tug-of-war and even sharing a bed at night. But eventually, the time came when a family was looking into adopting her, so I decided to adopt her myself.

From that day on, Shera became my guardian, therapy dog, and best friend. Together Shera and I worked on all of her quirks & triggers and grew a mutual respect for one another. Shera came with me on all of my photography adventures and made sure no one came near me without me knowing. It was like having a personal bodyguard everywhere I went. Shera and I became so in tune with one another that she would wake me up from all of my bad dreams and come sit next to me whenever I cried. Shera was always there for me no matter what.
